When Storms Come, Plead the Blood

When the storms of life come, plead the blood of Jesus.

It’s spring again, and the constant reports of bad weather, tornadoes, thunder storms and high winds. As Christians, we have some weapons we can use to protect ourselves from the destructive forces of nature.

We can plead the blood of Jesus over our family, homes, property, businesses and churches. To plead is a legal term that means to pronounce sentence for or against someone, to execute judgment, and to appeal with an earnest expectation. The old-time Pentecostals knew how to plead the blood of Jesus in order to exercise their authority against the enemy.

Isaiah 43:25–26 (MEV) says, I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake, and will not remember your sins. Put Me in remembrance; let us plead together; state your cause, that you may be justified.” In other words, looking at Isaiah 43 in light of New Testament revelation, we can plead the blood of Jesus and remind the enemy that we are cleansed, covered and made righteous through the blood of Jesus and no weapon has any right to prosper against us.

When storms come, I plead the blood of Jesus over my property. Psalms 107:2 (MEV) says,Let the redeemed of the Lord speak out, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy.” I remind God and all enemy forces that I am redeemed, the penalties of sin are paid for through Christ and I plead the blood of Jesus over my family and property.

In the story of the deliverance of the children of Israel from Egypt, on the night the death angel came, Israel was instructed to sacrifice a lamb and apply its blood to their doorpost. In Exodus 12:23 (MEV) God says, “For the Lord will pass through to kill the Egyptians. And when He sees the blood upon the lintel and on the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door and will not permit the destroyer to come to your houses to kill you.” When the destroyer sees the blood, he must pass over your property. The word pass in the Hebrew means to hop, to skip over, to hesitate, to limp, to dance around, to leap and to pass over. That definition sounds a lot like the motions of a tornado.

Tornadoes can be so unpredictable, they will drop out of a wall cloud and hop, skip and dance all over the landscape. So when we plead the blood of Jesus and we exercise our authority through Christ by faith, any funnel clouds must hop our house, skip over our property and dance around everything that’s covered by the blood of Jesus. I didn’t grow up Pentecostal, but when storms come, I sound like an old-time Pentecostal because I open my mouth and I plead the blood of Jesus against anything that comes to steal, kill and destroy.

Revelation 12:10–11 (MEV) says, “The accuser of our brothers, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” There is something supernatural that happens when you open your own mouth and apply the blood of Jesus it stops our adversary in his attack against you.

So the next time, you hear a bad weather report, don’t allow fear to come in your home. Open your mouth, plead the blood of Jesus and know that no weapon forced against you can prosper.

“Let us then come with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16, MEV). {eoa}
