Spiritual warfare is one of the areas that most Christians fall flat on, not knowing exactly how to pray and stand against the enemy at all times. In a recent livestream between Kap Chatfield and Richard Lorenzo Jr., the two discussed the tactics of spiritual warfare that all Christians need to understand to be strengthened in the Lord.

One of the points Chatfield makes is that Christians do not assume the authority that Jesus has given us to do the things He’s called us to do for His kingdom.

“If you showed up to work the same way that you show up to spiritual warfare, you’d get fired,” Chatfield says.

He uses the example of a boss giving an employee a task to do, and instead of the employee doing the task, they simply say that the supervisor does it so much better than they do. So, the employee insists it would be better for the boss to do the task themselves. In the same way, many Christians don’t walk in the power and the authority that Jesus has given them to do the things He’s asking them to do. Instead, they simply ask God to do the task Himself, not recognizing that we are supposed to be partnering with the Holy Spirit.

“God has given us the authority,” Lorenzo says. “He’s given us the weaponry.”

Lorenzo points out that God wants to use us to share the gospel and make His name known. However, the enemy also wants to use us as well. That’s why we have to know how to pray effectively against the the schemes of the devil.

We can do this in prayer because of the power of Jesus’ name. We have to remember that whatever we bind on earth is bound in heaven, and that whatever we loose on earth is also loosed in heaven.

“You’re binding and loosing, binding means restricting and loosing means you’re releasing,” Lorenzo says.

Lorenzo points out how dreams and intercession connect. As we intercede more, as we increase our time of prayer, the Lord will give us more dreams so we know what kinds of things He needs us to intercede about. The more we connect with the Lord, the more He will share and trust us with.
