He called me, I answered, and that’s where the story begins.
I’ve never been the type who learned anything the easy way. I learned everything on my own. Relationships. Streets. Survival. All on my own.
I praise God, because when I thought I was on my own, I was never truly on my own. God was with me every step of the way. He watched over me through every bad mistake and every wrong decision. He protected me along the way. When the Bible says He works all things out for good, you had better believe it (see Rom. 8:28).
When folks thought I was a lost cause. When they thought my situations in life would be the death of me. When some were ashamed to be around me, including family members. When they misunderstood me, God was always there. He has always connected me with at least one person along my journey who saw what He saw in me. I heard Him call for me twice before I surrendered completely, and even when I ran away, He was patient with me. You see, through the drugs, sex business and despair I lived in, I still had some hope for my life to get better. One day, I would make the right decisions, and things would turn around for me. When that day of running came to an end, I promised I would never live in bondage again. The day I tasted God and His glory, I knew I would never thirst again. When He fed me His Word and taught me His ways, I knew I was free, and religious views would never control me.
Living for Jesus is not a religion, it’s a relationship; and that’s what I have with Him. I will do what He tells me. I will say what He tells me. And I will go where He tells me. I will forever live to please my daddy. Along the way, I will tell folks about His grace, His love and set them free from bondage as He leads me. No religion nor traditions of man will ever set people free. It’s not by might or by power, but it is by His Spirit. Jesus came for the sinner, and those are the steps I intend to follow. And since we are all sinners and fall short of Gods glory, there is a lot of ground to cover (see Rom. 3:23). The harvest is plenty, but the laborers are few (see Luke 10:2).
Are you ready, soldiers? Let’s go get ’em, warriors! Come on, Team Jesus’ Body. Let’s do it! Forgive everyone, including yourself. Believe you are worthy, and let’s do this. May God be glorified in Jesus’ name. {eoa}
