Have you ever felt unwise or unable to make rational decisions?
Like most human characteristics, wisdom is measured on a continuum with a “normal curve”—where most people have some degree of wisdom, and only a few people have depths of it.
While I am not qualified to measure anyone’s wisdom or lack of understanding, including my own, I am confident as I learn more about godly wisdom, I learn how to be sensible in my decisions, actions and serving.
An excellent place to learn more about wisdom is in Proverbs. The book of Proverbs gives practical suggestions for effective living. It isn’t just a collection of sweet sayings but contains deep spiritual insights drawn from experience.
A proverb is a short, wise, easy-to-learn saying that calls a person to action. It doesn’t argue spiritual or moral beliefs. The writers of the book of Proverbs assumed we’d already have those. Instead, the book focuses on God: his character, works and blessings. It tells how we can live in a close relationship with Him.
We cannot have wisdom without God’s Word. With understanding comes peace.
