For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. —Ezekiel 36:24
For centuries, theologians puzzled over the references to Israel in the Book of Revelation. Israel had ceased to exist as a nation, and it seemed impossible for the prophecies in the Bible to be literally true. Many books were written by scholars who tried to interpret Revelation while omitting Israel.
After World War II, American bulldozers unearthed the grim evidence of the Holocaust. The concept of a nation of Israel had never seemed so remote. But God meant what He said in His Word. On May 14, 1948, Israel became a nation—overnight! This event marked one of the greatest miracles in history and the fulfillment of an end time prophecy!
God kept His Word and is gathering His covenant people from all over the world. He is establishing them once again in their land, where He promised they would be at the close of the age.
In Matthew 24:32, Jesus warns us, “Now learn a parable of the fig tree: When its branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that the summer is nigh; So likewise, ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the door.” In history, Israel is God’s fig tree serving as a harbinger of Christ’ return.
