So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him. —Isaiah 59:19
To fear the Lord is to reverence Him, to recognize Him for who He is. Even devils know there is a God—and they shudder (James 2:19). When the presence of God overshadows you, there is nothing the enemy can do to harm you. God rises up and causes the enemy to scatter.
God’s presence covers and protects us on every side. He goes before us into every battle and He is our rear guard. He is ever-watchful.
Behold the battle-scarred Lord of glory. He stands before you, a shepherd’s rod in His right hand—stained with the blood of your defeated enemy. Now look down and see the roaring adversary, laying mortally wounded at His feet.
This is the victorious Lord who says, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee” (Isaiah 41:10). His strength is in you; His anointing is upon you. Nothing is impossible when you believe in Him.
Jesus, You are the Lord of glory. You are the
Good Shepherd. I praise You for
defeating the enemy. Amen.
