Human beings fade away quickly but our spirits will last forever. Jesus Himself said we are eternal beings, made in God’s own image. The Bible tells us there are only two destinations for our spirits to go after we die. We will go to heaven or we will go to hell.
It is clear that when it comes to spiritual matters, it doesn’t matter how high your IQ is. It doesn’t matter how much money, fame or authority you have, or if you are deemed “successful” by the world’s standards. You could be a billionaire headed for hell.
When we are young, we think life will go on forever. When we get older, we understand how fast life goes by. Life really is but a vapor, especially compared to eternity. This is why each of us must make an informed decision about the afterlife while we have the opportunity and also warn others of hell. Knowing what awaits those who don’t know Jesus should motivate each of us to truly make our lives count. If we fully grasp how horrible hell is, it will give us greater urgency to warn people during our time on earth.
As Christians, the most important way to do that is to share the way of salvation with others. Not only will our lives hold much more meaning but the work we will do will count for all eternity. We can actually earn eternal rewards as Jesus mentioned many times in Scripture. We must also realize that God will write down everything we do for Him and for the kingdom of heaven. This is why it is so important not to waste away the days. Each of us must consider how we will make our lives count for God.
If we want to know God and spend our eternity in heaven, we must believe that Jesus died for our sins, was buried and rose from the dead. We must choose to turn from our sin, ask His forgiveness and receive Him as our Lord and Savior. This is what we also need to convey to the world around us. All of us will face Jesus Christ after we die but it will be too late to believe in Him then. We must make our lives count now. {eoa}
