How You Can Convert Your Kingdom Dreams to Reality

Approaching a new year is exciting for many people. The potential for a fresh start to life and the awakening of dreams is inspiring.

There are social media pages full of inspiring quotes that people are posting. Some are working toward weight loss goals and other financial and career goals. For at least the first three months of every new year, many are excited about their resolutions and goals.

The gym is full of individuals working hard on day one of the new year to lose that weight. Gym memberships traditionally increase in January of each new year. I receive calls from people who have decided to let their dreams no longer sit on the margins of their life. They are excited to now incorporate their businesses.

What often is unrealized is that goals require a work ethic that is unrelenting for them to become a reality. The level of discipline necessary to convert your dreams depends on the magnitude of your vision. The work ethic and energy a builder who builds skyscrapers needs versus a builder who builds single-family homes is drastically different. How big is your dream, and how much work are you willing to put in to see it become a reality?

There are a few things that I have come to learn about discipline that has helped me accomplish my dreams:

1. Discipline gives your dream legs. If you are going to get to the finish line in any area of your life. If you’re going to accomplish your goals, then you must be committed to execution and movement. Some people love to live in daydream mode. Until your dream has legs and starts moving, it will never become a reality.

I’ve watched in worship services as people have received prophetic words and live the rest of their lives expecting that word to come to fruition without any work on their part. Many are left frustrated and upset with God because they thought He was going to make it happen. However, many missed the part of the prophecy that required them to do something.

2. Discipline blesses you with a work ethic. I’ve discovered that when God gives you a dream. He never tells you the work ethic and discipline you will need to make it a reality. We are often drawn in by the beautiful trappings of the dream only to realize that God was trying to bless us with another level of discipline for plans and goals that He will give us. God always knows the ultimate destination, and as a trainer, He knows the building blocks necessary to get us there.

This year God wants to increase your life in every area. He wants to increase your influence and position you to be a blessing in the world. One of His methods for getting you there is to help you develop discipline.
