First thing in the morning I grab my cell phone to check the time, which leads to my seeing all the social media notifications and emails I received throughout the night. The temptation to check them is real. After checking them, I check my bank account to see what’s going on with it, what has come out and what has come in.
One morning I felt such conviction come over me, I had no choice but to repent.
God wants our firstfruits. He wants to be first with everything concerning us. When we rise in the morning from sleep, our first thing should be to worship Him—praise Him and give Him glory. He is worthy of our first awakening breath of the day. After all, He kept us throughout the night. He protected us the day before. He provided, protected and so much more until we rose from our sleep. He wants to be the first person we think of. He wants to be the first person we talk to. He wants to be the first person we love on. He wants our first. He has been so faithful to us, and when we put Him first at the beginning of our day, that shows our loyalty and faithfulness to Him.
When we do this, we allow Him to take our day, let Him be God and do what He will. We come into divine order and submission.
Make God first. Praise Him by glorifying Him. Praise His holy name first thing, in Jesus’ name.
