How to Prosper in Perilous Times

Many are experiencing perilous times. Some people are in danger of losing businesses; others are missing the connections they had with friends and family. Each of us has felt a sense of loss and lack at some point during the pandemic.

The major problem we experience during perilous times like these is often found in maintaining God’s perspective. Throughout my walk with the Lord, I’ve learned that Holy Spirit is my compass and the one who guides me through trying times. However, He always starts by changing my perspective of the situation.

As my perspective changes, the doors to prosperity are opened, and I’m able to access the abundant life Yeshua came to give (John 10:10).

4 Life Lessons I’ve Learned That Help Me Prosper in Perilous Times

They all centered around a choice to see things differently.

  1. Choose to love: The moment we start to believe love is only a feeling, we are robbed of its power. Choosing to love, even when you do not feel like it, cuts off the enemy’s plan and aligns you with the Lord’s.

When we proclaim the love of the Father, even in perilous times, His power is released in our lives. We can enlarge our tents to accomplish His will.

The Takeaway

When we refocus our perspective and love during perilous times, a great reward is released from heaven. We are transformed from victims to victors, positioned to accomplish the Father’s will on earth.

—”But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you” (Matt. 5:44).

  1. Choose to surrender: Surrendering is always a choice, and a hard one to make in perilous times. You must choose to be humble and submit yourself to God. The major hindrances that can get in the way of surrendering are pride and control.

In perilous times, most of us want to hold tight to what we know. You are not meant to know all things; that is God’s job. There is no shame in surrendering to the fact that you don’t know it all.

When you don’t surrender, a spirit of lack can come upon you. It is that mindset of lack that ends up hindering your walk. You become resentful and bitter rather than peaceful and empowered.

Choosing to surrender frees you to receive a fresh anointing, beneficial at any time. But during perilous times, God will use this anointing to multiply His kingdom and make great transfers both in the spiritual and the physical realms.

The Takeaway

Changing your perspective, surrendering to God and practicing humility during perilous times, you will be able to receive more from the Lord. Find someone who is at a higher level of faith than you. Choose to surrender to Holy Spirit’s guidance and learn from their teachings.

Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time” (1 Pet. 5:6).

  1. Choose to Honor.

You may have heard me say that honor is the currency of heaven. When we show honor, the Lord opens up the floodgates. This is a biblical principle that accompanies the concept that we reap what we sow.

Choosing honor comes with a promise. For example, honoring our parents comes with this promise mentioned in Exodus 20:12 and Ephesians 6:2-3 (ESV): that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.”

The Takeaway

The key to prosperity is choosing to honor instead of becoming jealous of or angry with another. Jealousy and anger block the heavenly currency from manifesting in your life.

Therefore, honor others when they prosper. You can do this when you change your perspective and realize God is working in and blessing their lives, just as He is yours.

—”Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king” (1 Pet. 2:17).

  1. Choose to give: Choosing to give in perilous times seems counterintuitive. This doesn’t make sense in our natural minds, yet in the spiritual realm, it provides an avenue for the Lord to accomplish His most widespread kingdom work.

The Bible says that money does not lead to happiness. Yet many of us will hold on to it as if it does during perilous times.

We can change our perspective and come into agreement with the Word. A biblical principle to understand is that money is a tool intended to pour into God’s kingdom and bless others.

There are biblical principles that come with stewarding our money such sowing seeds into fertile soil during times of planting.

Essentially, this means that God has outlined certain times on His calendar to bring offerings and sow seeds into fertile soil, all according to His will. These are principles many in the church do not know. However, Yeshua speaks about these principles in a number of His parables.

The Takeaway

Change your perspective on giving and choose to give according to God’s will, not yours. This allows you to make a great impact for His kingdom during perilous times.

—”But other seeds fell into good ground and produced grain: a hundred, sixty, or thirty times as much. Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear” (Matt. 13:8-9).

Choose to align with God’s will, because it is His Word and His ways that will prosper, even in perilous times. {eoa}
