Have you ever looked at someone else and think it must be nice? Why do they catch all the breaks? If so, you’re not alone; I know I have been guilty. It is so easy to compare ourselves to others. The world is a revolving door of flashing lights, fancy cars, clothes, housing ( I am a real-estate broker), even our body image: it’s constant.

Getting caught up in the cycle brings stress, dissatisfaction, low self-esteem, destruction and a weak relationship with God. Paul says in Philippians 4:11 to be content! Be satisfied with what God has given you. If you take your eyes off the Joneses, then you can see clearly all the good things that God has blessed you with. James 1:17 says this: “Every good and perfect gift comes from above.”

What you have is good and perfect! Romans 8:32 (KJV) say it best: “He that spared not his own Son but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” Why would God give you His most prized possession, His Son, to fail you otherwise? Jesus says in Matthew 6:25: “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not life more than meat, and the body for raiment?”

Life has a greater purpose than possessions. Our purpose is greater, our calling is higher; and that’s to serve Jesus and work for His kingdom. Jesus feeds the sparrow and clothes the lilies and you should have no worry, considering Jesus laid His life down to have you. Instead of storing your treasures up here on earth, store them up in heaven. Earthly possessions fade, rot, rust and fall apart but your treasures in heaven are forever good.

Where is your heart? Whom do you serve? Because where your heart is, so is your treasure and you can’t serve both God and mammon. “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:19). “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you” (Matt. 6:33). “And all these blessings shall come upon thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God” (Deut. 28:2). {eoa}
