The wisdom of God is vital in making godly choices over good choices.
Then why do we undervalue it so much?
Before you think you don’t, remember that our inclination to ignore God’s promptings in this area date back to Adam and Eve.
Often, we lack a deep understanding of the wisdom of God. We take a superficial glance toward it in a sermon here and there, but quickly move on to the more exciting elements of the Spirit-led life.
This lack of discernment of the importance of God’s voice of wisdom makes it easy to mistake human wisdom for solid biblical wisdom.
When we replace God’s wisdom with our own, we end up down paths we were never meant to walk, and before we know it, we’re wondering how we got there.
You only need to consider some of the recent high-profile Christian leadership failures, such as Ravi Zacharias, Carl Lentz and Bill Hybels to see the fruit of lives steered by human wisdom.
Godly wisdom is of vital importance for two reasons: First, God’s wisdom seeks to develop us, so we can steward a successful life. Second, His heart is to protect His children from harm.
These are both excellent reasons to value His voice of wisdom.
There is no greater time to recognize this than right now. We are in a season of disruption and uncertainty, our understanding is being challenged even daily, the only way to move forward with any certainty is to apply the wisdom of God in each situation we face.
The Bible says in Proverbs 9:10 that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord. This term has become a catch cry of the prophetic movement today, but do we understand what it means?
In Isaiah 11:1-5 Scripture tells us that Jesus Himself chose to live in the fear of the Lord. This reveals how crucial this concept is to us as Christians.
