We know that life and death are in the power of the tongue, according to Proverbs 18:21. But did you know that Jesus taught a lesson on using your words by using something that was dead?
In Mark 11:20-26, Jesus explains that the withered fig tree withered because of His words. We can self-check all areas of our lives and see whether we have spoken life or death by applying the same knowledge used in this parable.
So often, we don’t realize how much death we are speaking over ourselves and our circumstances. We inadvertently kill our futures, finances, families, children, marriages, etc. We say things like “It will always be like this” or “I can’t do that.” What’s more disturbing is how we believe with all our hearts the negative we speak. We have faith for destruction and not for blessing. We have essentially partnered with the enemy against ourselves.
Jesus used the “dead thing” as a lesson and told His disciples, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” Using only words, Jesus cursed the fruit of that tree, killing it and all its future potential.
You must align your mouth with heaven. If you want life, you must speak it. Don’t let what you see deter you. Believe. If you see death in an area that belongs to you, pay attention to your words. Good or bad, you will have what you say. There is no doubt words are involved since Jesus said, “you will have whatever you say.”
So today, speak life over every circumstance and be blessed. {eoa}
