Contrary to popular belief, prayer is not a passive reaction to circumstances in which we wait for God to do something “if it be His will!”
Prayer is, in fact, a divine partnership between God and man. That’s right! We have a part to play in prayer.
The moment we realize the part that we play, the more effective our prayer lives will be, and the sooner we will see God’s supernatural results for our lives. Earlier, we mentioned the deep significance and importance of praying in Jesus’ name. This is the inheritance that we have received as born-again, Spirit-filled believers: the right to use His name.
In fact, the more we become acclimated with the character and authority of Jesus through meditating on the Word of God, the more powerful our prayer lives will become. This revelation on partnering with God in prayer has literally revolutionized my life.
The Bible says: “For we are laborers together with God: You are God’s vineyard; you are God’s building” (1 Cor. 3:9). The Greek word used for “laborers together” is synergos, which means “a companion in work.” This word is where we get the English word “synergy.”
Synergy is defined as the cooperative interaction between two or more substances to produce a combined effect. In other words, God is inviting the believer to cooperate with Him when it comes to matters of His will and kingdom in the earth. We know that God is all-powerful, but we also know that God is relational, and as such, He desires our participation and agreement to move in the earthly realm.
Intercession is more than merely praying for someone else; it is a divine partnership between God and the believer, which releases His supernatural power to bring change and transformation.
I want you to think about the various problematic situations or difficult circumstances in your life right now. What changes do you desire to see? What change does God desire to see?
When there is a synergy between what God desires and what you desire, your prayers become an explosive force in the hand of God to bring about supernatural change in your life. Many times, we are waiting on God to do something and He is waiting on us to pray (prophetically) and release our faith so that He can manifest His purposes in and through us.{eoa}
