The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” —Revelation 22:17
In this passage of Scripture the people of God see the Son of God, the Son of Man—fully God and fully man. They see Him in a way that they have never before understood Him. They see Him as a heavenly Bridegroom. And from the overflow of that revelation, they see themselves in an entirely new light as a cherished, lovesick bride. This new spiritual identity changes our emotional chemistry. It changes everything about us. When the Holy Spirit and the church are in unity in a bridal identity, together we will cry out, “Come!” As the Holy Spirit reveals to God’s people the attributes and character of the Bridegroom, lovers will rise up to wholehearted devotion. This revelation of the Bridegroom God will empower, sustain, shield, and protect the bride during the difficult times that lie ahead.
{ PRAYER STARTER }
Father, as the Bridegroom God is revealed in greater measure to my life, I long more and more for the day when He will come and claim me as His bride for all eternity.
