“I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth” (Ps. 34:1, NASB).

In the previous article, I covered the importance of making the choice to start each day by acknowledging God, and thus making Him our first priority—our first fruits. When we begin our mornings by sitting before the LORD, we actually set the course for our day and establish a godly mindset as we move forward.  Beloved, remember, this is truly a choice and a decision of our will—which each of us can control.

Notice also in the above verse, David’s declaration went even beyond starting his day worshipping Father, this former king of Israel had resolved in his heart to praise his God “continually.” David awoke each morning with praise for HaShem on his lips, and he continued to express his adoration and love for the Father throughout the day. In fact, God called David, “a man after His very heart.”

“The Lord has sought out for Himself a man [David] after His own heart” (1 Sam. 13:14b).

Beloved, when we make the mandatory choice to exalt God continually with our mouth, do we really know what that requires? It means we are no longer going to limit ourselves to only praising God in the morning, when we are alone in our prayer closet, or in the confines of our own home. It means that it becomes constant, persistent and nonstop. It means, as we go about our day, there is going to be a perpetual, natural, and unyielding praising of God—all day long. It is going to become a reflection of who we are and who we want to become more like: Yeshua.

When you go to the store to buy something, and you are in the checkout line, you are now going to say something to the checkout person like, “Praise the Lord!” “God bless you” or “God loves you.” You are going to be emboldened to say, “Praise God” out in the open, in public. People are going to be aware of you and possibly react skeptically. Your friends are going to recognize it. Even your co-workers will take notice. But you are not going to hide your faith. You are intended and destined to be a light revealing Father to the world. You are unique, marked, a priest on the earth who represents a kingdom not of this world.

“No one, after lighting a lamp, puts it away in a cellar nor under a basket, but on the lampstand, so that those who enter may see the light” (Luke 11:33, NASB 1995).

“His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

We should not let the fear of man or the opinion of others deter us from continually having the admiration of the LORD in our mouth. I realize, though, that we need to practice wisdom, and I know that there is such a thing as appropriate timing. But if we are honest with ourselves, too many of us are not conveying the praise of God into the world as we should. We may honor Him privately. We may open our mouth and bless Him in our congregations—along with everybody else—while singing a worship song. Nevertheless, when we think about our daily routine throughout the week, when often in the midst of unbelievers, are words of praise and thanksgiving emanating from our lives so that a world that does not know or recognize Him can see and hear?

“His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

David certainly did not walk around his kingdom (Israel) and compartmentalize his life so he only praised God in specific places or at certain times. All of David’s talk was seasoned with praise to HaShem. Likewise, we need to love God so much that we do not hesitate to speak of His goodness to anyone we come in contact with. We are to be His ambassadors to the world.

“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ” (2 Cor. 5:20a).

But what if they do not understand us? What if they do not receive us? What if they mock and make fun of us? Then, beloved, we are in good company with our Messiah Jesus.

Let us become determined to not let people control us, cause us to compromise or limit us. Let us strive to not allow this carnal and misguided world to rule over us. Let us introduce change that reforms our culture through being a spiritual force of revelation and truth for HaShem!

I want to challenge and inspire you today. Make the decision to begin opening your mouth and praising Him at every opportunity. Starting today, make the choice to no longer tolerate allowing the world, acquaintances or anybody else to intimidate or suppress your voice from acknowledging your Creator! Our mouths should be a continual fountain of praise to HaShem, announcing to everyone that we are beacons of hope pointing toward a merciful and loving God.

Whether they accept it or reject it, you have planted seeds that have within them the potential to bear fruit. And no matter what, they will know who you are, what you stand for and that you have a grateful and surrendered heart, to the glory of God your Father.
