A.J. Swoboda says the story of Saul’s conversion to Paul in Acts tells us three things about Jesus and the Holy Spirit. First, that it’s never to late to convert to Jesus, since Paul was likely in middle to late age relative to his peers. Second, it shows that Jesus still speaks, even audibly, even after his ascension. Swoboda says, “I don’t think there’s any reason theologically to believe that God has ceased. I think God speaks.” Thirdly, it shows that God can speak to us in the middle of sin or while we are opposing God—He doesn’t require you to get “cleaned” or start living righteously before He wants to initiate relationship.
