Children could stumble upon pornographic content on Netflix, after a serious blunder by the video-streaming site.
Netflix has come under fire for categorizing nearly a dozen explicit videos as appropriate for family viewing.
All of the films in question include nudity, with some also featuring graphic sex scenes or rape.
Explicit Content
One of the videos is a documentary about an Italian porn star. Another focuses on the life of a Brazilian prostitute.
The mislabeling of the content is particularly concerning given that children can access Netflix by buying or redeeming a gift card and do not necessarily need to sign up to the service using a credit card.
On its website, Netflix states that it uses “reasonable judgment” to determine an age rating in cases where the material has not been rated already.
Amazon Prime
Rival video service Amazon Prime also appears to have miscategorized some adult-themed films.
A spokesman for Amazon said: “We are working closely with our third-party suppliers and the [British Board of Film Classification] to reduce the instances of this happening.” {eoa}
