Romans 7:15-8:8 How on earth can we be like Jesus? To be like Jesus and to glorify Him on earth is one of the main purposes God has for us in this life. How often do I fall short of demonstrating His love, mercy and forgiveness to others? When I fail in my daily witness, there is but one hope. This hope is Jesus Christ. I have to abandon my flesh to Him and allow Him to conform me to His image. I cannot do it, and the more I try the more I fail.
Paul talks about this dilemma in this passage from Romans. He finds himself doing those things he does not want to do and saying those things he does not want to say. He recognizes that it is sin in him doing these things. Sin always leads to death and he cries out to God, “Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?” Then he says, “I thank God through Jesus our Lord.” Only when we are completely dependent upon Jesus can we have any hope of being like Him. Daily I pray the following prayer:
Lord, I offer myself to You today. I offer my body, soul and spirit to You. I ask for Your anointing to be upon me. Let Your Spirit of wisdom and understanding, counsel and might, knowledge and the fear of the Lord be operative in my life today. Help me to walk in Your Spirit and to stay filled with Your Spirit all the day long. You are my only hope of glorifying the Father today in my life. Be glorified today in me. Amen.
You might want to join me in this prayer today. I know if you pray this with your heart as well as say it with your words, the Lord will use you today to glorify Him.
