Marcus Rogers: The Holy Spirit Instructed Me to Expose Christian ‘Witches’

In his online preaching, Marcus Rogers doesn’t hold anything back. If it doesn’t come from the truth of God’s Word, he won’t even touch the subject.

But, Rogers said in a recent video, that is hardly the case with many preachers and teachers out there, whether they are on the internet or behind the pulpit of a church. The senior pastor at Firehouse Church in Chicago, Rogers says there are multitudes of supposed distributors of God’s Word who are actually teaching and preaching witchcraft—and that they are “wolves in sheep’s clothing.

“I’ve been praying about this and I see a lot of things going on in Christianity right now,” Rogers says. “l just felt led by the Holy Spirit to come out here and expose these Christian witches, warlocks and wolves. A lot of people think I’m controversial, but I just have got to do what God has instructed me to do.

“But what is the definition of witchcraft? Traditionally, it’s the exercise or invocation of alleged supernatural powers to control people or events, practices typically involving sorcery or magic. What is the root definition of sorcery? It’s a way to try to affect fate in unnatural or evil ways.

“And what is magic? Something that seems to cast a spell or enchantment. In these old movies, you see the witch with the black pointy hat, the cauldron, and they are putting a spell on you and you’re in a different state of mind, a trance. Whether it’s through a potion or words they spoke over you, they put you in a different state of mind.

Rogers quoted Exodus 22:18, which reads “You must not allow a sorceress to live.” He also quoted Leviticus 20:27, which reads: “A man or woman who speaks to spirits as a medium or necromancer shall surely be put to death. They shall stone them. Their blood guilt shall be upon them.”

He spoke of 1 Samuel 15:23, which reads: “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He has also rejected you from being king.”

“What that is saying is that not doing what God tells you to do is far worse than fooling around in the occult,” Rogers said. “It’s worse than witchcraft. … Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.”

While Rogers did not specifically single out any one preacher or teacher for these sins, he says he knows these types of so-called kingdom leaders are out there, and he warns believers to stick to the truth of 1 Corinthians 2:16, which reads: For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.”

“Any time an individual is dishonest, it doesn’t matter whether it’s a little white lie, they’re trying to present something a certain way or for you to have a certain mindset. That is witchcraft. The truth is the truth,” Rogers says.

“If you have a Christian social media influencer or a preacher or a teacher that is trying to twist the truth, or that is not being honest about putting a certain perspective out there, so that you can view them a certain way, that is witchcraft. They are trying to get you to see not with the mind of Christ. The mind of Christ will always see the truth. They are trying to get you to see them in a certain light.”

Those are the teachers that Rogers refers to as wolves in sheep’s clothing, and he reminds believers of what is said in Acts 20:29-30: “For I know that after my departure, dreadful wolves will enter among you, not sparing the flock. Even from among you men will arise speaking perverse things, to draw the disciples away after them.”

“A lot of the people that are talking about other people, judging other people … I know for a fact that they are liars. They teach some good things, but they are fake. That is witchcraft,” Rogers adds.

Rogers warns believers to use sharp discernment and to “work out their own salvation,” lest they fall into this trap of witchcraft.
