“Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country, And from your relatives And from your father’s house, To the land which I will show you; And I will make you into a great nation, And I will bless you, And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing,” (Gen.12: 1-2).
The birth of the Jewish race goes all the way back to Abraham—as its father. This is why many Jewish prayers begin by acknowledging the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Abraham, through the election of God, is the beginning of the nation of Israel.

But what is Israel elected for? Israel was and is chosen by God to be a unique channel of God’s blessing to the whole world.
“And in your (Abraham) seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed,” (Gen. 22:18).
How does this specifically and personally apply to you?
The New Testament tells us that the blessing of Abraham has come upon everyone who puts their faith in Messiah Jesus. Most of you are not Jewish by birth, but you have come into a relationship with the God of Israel, through Yeshua.
In Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham has come to the Gentiles. (See Galatians 3:14.)
In Isaiah 41:8 the Lord calls Abraham His friend! Through Yeshua, you are also in friendship with God. You share in the blessing of Abraham! You are a friend of the All Mighty! You have been “grafted in,” (Rom. 11: 17, 24). In Ephesians 2:13 Paul wrote, “But now in Christ Jesus you who previously were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.”
This should bring you great joy and confidence!
Yeshua said, “No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends,” (John 15:15).
