During different seasons of my life, I’ve found myself wondering, What’s my purpose? A few times, I’ve had a definite idea, and at other times, I’ve had no clue.
Each time I question what I was created to do, I just want God to tell me the one thing I am on earth to do. I’m a doer, one who likes to have a clear path of what I’m supposed to do and how to do it.
I struggled with my purpose when I stopped working to stay at home and raise my children. I questioned, Why did I go to college? Without working as a nurse, I felt I had wasted my education.
I failed to see the purpose God gave me in those sweet moments being able to be with my children, forming and developing them into who God had created them to be.
Then again, when all the kids had gone away to college, I was confused about who I was and what I was supposed to be doing. Again, I need to do something to feel like a helpful soul in a hurting world. I need one thing to do.
Many years later, I learned the most important thing about the purpose God gives us. Purpose isn’t found in one thing in our lives. We are to glorify the one true God.
When we believe in the almighty God, we are given new birth. Our confidence comes in the belief of what God has done for us in Jesus.
