Salvation is more than a legal exchange affecting our position before God. Salvation also includes the exchange of deep, loving affections and love. As God communicates His enjoyment and affections for us, we in turn respond in a similar way. An intellectual understanding of the legal aspects of salvation is essential, but it is not the full counsel of God. We will never have more passion for God than we understand that He has for us. We will never be more committed to God than our understanding of His commitment to us.

Lord, I want more than a head knowledge of the salvation You have so graciously given to me. May my heart be gripped by a revelation of your passion and love for me.
The Holy Spirit must quicken our knowledge of God’s passionate love
as the way He has chosen to impart it to our hearts.
