Christian Leaders at Trump Rally: President Could Win—but Only if Believers Vote

Donald Trump has announced that he’s running for re-election. He chose Orlando, Florida—my hometown—as the spot to kick off his campaign. I had the opportunity to join 20,000 excited supporters, who cheered as Trump championed their concerns in his 76-minute-long speech.

What I found most fascinating is that many Christian leaders flew in for the event. Most of them think Trump will win, but they’re concerned he might lose if Christians across the U.S. don’t stand up and vote.

Most of you know that I’ve written two books on the Trump presidency: God and Donald Trump, which is about how God raised up this very unlikely leader, and then Trump Aftershock, which is about all the aftershocks that have taken place in his first two years in office. For that reason—even though many of you saw the rally in the news—I wanted to give you an eyewitness account from a Christian perspective. (You can listen to my podcast on the event by clicking here or clicking on the podcast icon in this article.)

For many conservatives in the U.S., last night was a historic night. People were lining up hours before the event opened, and some were saving their spot as early as Monday morning. The Amway Center was packed to capacity with the 20,000 who attended, far surpassing Barack Obama’s re-election kickoff event.

Plenty of celebrities showed up, including Mike Lindell from MyPillow and Lou Holtz as well as several well-known political figures like Sen. Marco Rubio and Gov. Ron DeSantis. But what surprised me the most were the many Christian leaders who made the effort to fly in and support Trump. I saw Jentezen Franklin, Dr. Jerry Falwell, Pastor Robert Jeffress, Bishop Harry Jackson, Alveda King, Tom Mullins, Pastor Darrell Scott and more. As I talked with these Christian leaders, the consensus seemed to be that they thought Trump would win.

After all, under Trump’s leadership, the U.S. economy is booming, the unemployment rate is down, the military is being rebuilt and our problems with illegal immigration are on the road to being fixed. If Trump is re-elected, it’s very likely these good trends will only get better.

Many of these pastors and Christian leaders feel Trump has been a champion for the church in many ways. Not only has the president taken a firm pro-life stance, but he has also defended religious liberties—the most newsworthy of which was how he demanded Turkey release Pastor Andrew Brunson, who was wrongfully imprisoned for sharing his faith.

In a time when the left is waging an attack on Christianity, this kind of support from our president is refreshing to many Christians. I recently did an interview with David Horowitz, a secular Jew, who wrote a book called The Dark Agenda. In that book, he exposes the left’s war to eradicate Christianity. You’ll want to listen to that podcast interview when it comes out soon.

Although many at the rally believe Trump will win the upcoming election, others voiced a concern: If Christians don’t turn out to vote in record numbers, the left could win and reverse all the good Trump has accomplished. Yes, Trump’s supporters are enthusiastic right now, but so are the Democrats. In fact, many of last night’s attendees commented on the left’s radical enthusiasm and how their animosity toward Trump fuels it.

The future of our country is at stake in next year’s election. And if Christians decide not to rally together and vote according to biblical values, we could see our spiritual enemy win some major battles—in our policies, our leadership and our rights. If you agree, share this article and encourage your friends to vote!
