Black Gets More Attention Than Good

Our society has placed more emphasis on Black Friday than Good Friday.

How did black Friday become such a major day of shopping? I cannot remember when it wasn’t.

Everyone seems to blame Hallmark for all the special days we celebrate, but I’m not aware of any “Happy Black Friday” cards available at car washes. It’s just a day of exaggerated sales offers to launch a season of shopping and dropping.

Early this morning I thought of how different black Friday is from Good Friday:

Black Friday is a race to find specials. Good Friday is about the grace to find salvation.

Black Friday is about shopping. Good Friday is about dying.

Black Friday is stressful. Good Friday is peaceful.

Black Friday is a tradition of men. Good Friday gave us abundant living.

Black Friday is shop till you drop. Good Friday is drop to your knees.

Black Friday is about the purchase of temporary things.

Good Friday purchased eternal life for those who believe.

Thank God for Friday.
