What is true regarding intimacy in marriage is also true in our relationship with God. It doesn’t happen without effort. In forming Adam with His hands and breathing life into him, God demonstrated His desire for intimate involvement with mankind.
After the man and woman fell, God’s plan of redemption was instituted to bring them back to the relationship God intended from the beginning.

HEART ISSUE: Intimacy is the deliberate pursuit of the knowledge of God, and it requires a lifetime commitment. What are you tempted to substitute for genuine intimacy with God?
PRAYER FOCUS: Father, we long to be close to You, but life has taught us to shun intimacy, to resist knowing and being known. Help us shed the shame we feel and run to You. Everything we’ve done is open to You, yet You love us unconditionally. Thank You for rescuing us from fear and desperation and for revealing to us that the safest place we can ever be is in Your presence. Amen.
