Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of Iran’s last monarch, says he is prepared to lead a transitional government when the Islamic Republic falls, declaring that the Iranian people have asked him to help guide the nation into a new era.
In a new address, Pahlavi revealed that many Iranians have called on him to assume responsibility during a potential transition away from the current regime in Tehran.
“The Iranian people have called on me to lead the transition after the regime is gone,” he said. “I have accepted that responsibility.”
Pahlavi emphasized that his goal would be their future through democratic elections.
“My commitment is to ensure the transition is orderly, the country is stabilized, and Iranians determine their future through the ballot box,” he said.
Behind this major governmental shift from the Iranian Islamic regime, could there be a deeper spiritual battle at play here?
In The Dragon’s Prophecy, Jonathan Cahn notes that there is a demonic entity linked to the nation of Persia, which eventually became Iran.
This unique demonic entity is linked to a particular nation—Persia. The title Sar Paras may be translated as Prince of Persia, or the Persian Lord and Master of Persia. As Persia became Iran, the entity may be called the Ruler of Iran, the Iranian Lord, or the Lord and Master of Iran. Thus it seeks to control the nation of Persia, Iran, to lead it, impel it, drive it, and use it as the instrument of its purposes.
Spirits do not die. Thus the Sar Paras did not perish in ancient times but still exists. And since it specifically wars against the nation of Israel and God’s end-time purposes for that nation, what would we expect to happen with the return of Israel to the modern world and the Jewish people to Jerusalem? We would expect that it would trigger and reactivate the Sar Paras and his ancient war.
It is this Sar Paras that the prophet Daniel discusses in Daniel 10:20, which says, “But now I shall return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I have gone forth, then truly the prince of Greece will come.”
Cahn further explains how, under Pahlavi, Israel and Iran had a powerful relationship. However, a spiritual battle soon unfolded:
Under Shah Reza Pahlavi, Iran and Israel enjoyed friendly relations. But in the late 1970s the Shah was overthrown. A new and radical Iran was unleashed on the world stage. As the Sar Paras seeks to stop the end-time purposes of God concerning Israel, so the new Iran became obsessed with the nation of Israel. It established itself as Israel’s nemesis, its archenemy among the nations. It would give itself to an unrelenting campaign of opposing, thwarting, and warring against the Jewish nation. As the Sar Paras would ultimately seek Israel’s destruction, so the new radical Iran would do likewise. Before the world, over and over again, publicly and brazenly, it would threaten to bring destruction on the Jewish state.
As demonic spirits possess and use others as their vessels and instruments, agents, and proxies, so the Sar Paras-driven Iran would, likewise, use others as its instruments, agents, and proxies. And as demonic spirits use others to inspire terror and fear, so the radical Iran would become a terror state, sponsoring terrorism around the world. It would subsidize or facilitate terrorism, radicalism, and anti-Israel hatred in Iraq, Lebanon, Bahrain, Yemen, Pakistan, and Syria, among many other nations. It would fund, train, and support the terrorist organization Hezbollah in its relentless war against the Jewish nation
A Potential Prophetic Shift?
If Iran were to move away from its current hostility toward Israel, it would mark one of the most significant geopolitical shifts in modern Middle Eastern history.
For those studying biblical prophecy, the development raises intriguing questions.
Jonathan Cahn writes that the “Prince of Persia” historically drove hostility toward Israel through earthly powers.
But if the regime driving that hostility collapses, it could signal a major change in the spiritual and geopolitical landscape.
Whether or not such a transformation occurs remains to be seen.
But for the first time in decades, the possibility exists that the nation once known as Persia could move in a dramatically different direction.
