Revelation 3:1 says, “I know your works, that you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.”
The church of Sardis is much like the American church in this hour. There are many positive yet deceptive attributes, as well as claims of success that resonate within our spheres of Christian culture. We have become professionals when it comes to marketing the Messiah, while all the while neglecting much of His fiery nature that leads to conviction and needed repentance.
It is no secret that America is in a moral tailspin. Our nation has entered a time of history where right is wrong, up is down, perversion is celebrated and love is characterized by the tolerance and promotion of anything contrary to God’s Word. In truth, the only hope for America is another great spiritual awakening.
As sad and degenerate as America is, on many levels, the church is not much better. When the church should be the voice of moral clarity and a source of direction, it has fallen deep into carnality, man worship, prayerlessness and so forth. The result is an expression of religion that has lost power and the demonstration of God’s Spirit.
Conviction and repentance are needed in the church first, and then by God’s grace America can be impacted. Join me on this week’s Maintain the Flame podcast episode as I share Part 2 of We Need Revival in the Church with a focus on conviction and repentance. Be prepared to be stirred deeply! {eoa}
