Why Do Prophets Have Such Difficulty With Timing?

At this time, the church, and more specifically the remnant, is more dependent on prophets than ever before. It is the part of the fivefold ministry that is most needed; God says in His Word “Surely the Lord God does nothing without revealing His purpose to His servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7), and here we are in the latter days with circumstances changing dramatically and the need to hear from the Lord our God more than ever.

Almost 40 years ago, I attended and served at a prophet’s conference located in Prince William Forest Park, Triangle, Virginia. The leader was an apostle and prophet by the name of Dr. Costa Deir. He was holding the conference to train young prophets in what to expect and encounter in their calling and destinies in ministry. One of the main takeaways from that conference was the concept that prophets most often got timing wrong. Deir described that when a prophet receives a word from the Lord, he must wait upon the Lord to understand as much as he can about “who, what, when, where, why and how.” In his waiting, he may not obtain all that information, but he needs to be receptive to gather as much information as possible. For example, who does the prophet give the information to? When does he deliver it? How does he deliver it?

Nonetheless, Deir pointed out that in matters of the Spirit, the prophet sees and hears things from heaven where there is no time. Hence, what he sees or hears, he expects to occur on the earth in the present time; however, it may take 20 years or more for what he sees to occur. In truth, it may not even occur in his lifetime.

Many of us have seen and heard prophets speak things in 2020 and 2021 that did not come to pass when they were expected to occur. This is particularly true in the political realm. Promises were made, dates were exchanged … yet, nothing happened. At least, nothing appeared to have happened in the natural realm. President Trump was not elected on Nov. 3, 2020. December came and went. Jan. 6 came and went; Jan. 20 came and went.

Personally, I prophesied to a friend of mine one year before the election that Donald Trump would win by a landslide. The election came, and it appeared that Biden was elected president, despite evidence of fraud in the election process. So, I asked the Lord if I was wrong? No, my Father said to me. President Donald Trump did win by a landslide; He told me He counted the votes! The reality in which we live in is that the truth has not caught up with the reality yet. I still believe in the truth; though, I don’t know how or when it will occur. How about you? Be not afraid! Press into the Father’s heart, and you will be comforted!
