In Ephesians 2:14-16, Paul describes how the Lord tore down the wall of separation between Jew and Gentile to create One New Man. The intent was to make peace between those who were once at enmity with one another, reconciling them to Himself.
In other words, what seems to be disunified in the natural, God can unify through Yeshua in the spiritual for His glory—for His name’s sake.
When there is unity between those within the spiritual family of God, supernatural power is released from the courts of heaven.
Dwelling Together in Unity
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the Lord commanded the blessing—life forevermore” (Ps. 133, NKJV).
In Hebrew, Hine ma tov umah na’im shevet achim gam yachad is transliterated in English to, “How good and how pleasant it is when brethren (from every tribe) dwell in unity.”
This unity described in Psalm 133 is the prophetic word Paul describes in Ephesians 2:14-16:
“For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity” (emphasis added).
When believers and the Jewish people come together, the covenant is restored. This creates an abiding place for the Lord’s presence. The unity invites the Holy Spirit, releasing oil from heaven.
This fresh anointing of oil refreshes and revives the body. When we are unified, it creates a sweet harmony, and God releases His eternal blessings and promises!
Unfortunately, Many Are Unknowingly Separated From Blessings
Sadly, these councils were fueled by anti-Semitism.
The supposed intent for the Council of Elvira (A.D. 306) was to develop order in the church. However, the result was removing Jewish traditions and observances, such as Christians receiving blessings from the Jews.
Constantine called the Council of Nicea together in A.D. 325, urging the church to disassociate from anything Jewish. One outcome of this council was to use the Western calendar to observe Christ’s resurrection.
How the Separation Impacts Us Today
As you read, these sad circumstances blocked the pouring out of blessings upon the church as God intended. When we, as the church, do not understand the rich heritage of the family we’ve been grafted into, we fail to see how God keeps HIs promises—both to the church and the Jewish nation.
However, when reading Paul’s writing in Ephesians, we see divine anointing that flows from heaven when Jew and Gentile come together in Yeshua.
What Happens When We Come Together?
As more people understand their spiritual heritage, they begin to see how they have been invited into the Jewish story by the Lord’s infinite mercy.
More and more people are longing to relate to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And as they do, they discover something remarkable:
— God’s plan for the nation of Israel.
— God’s faithfulness and covenant-keeping character.
— God’s restorative plan of the One New Man.
This prophetic significance of the One New Man takes you deep into the Jewish roots of the Christian faith, providing you with a clear foundation of how to walk in covenant revelation.
As a result, you grow in your knowledge of God.
Hosea 4:6a says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”
The enemy planned to cut the church off from her Jewish roots, allowing a foothold for destruction. But no more—
— No more will we be separated.
— No more will we walk crippled, with our heads down.
Because of the revelation of the One New Man, the church will:
— Rise up.
— Be unified.
— Stand firm in the faith.
— Understand her power and authority.
— Stand and silence the voices that want to see the nation of Israel destroyed.
When this happens, unity within the body and between Jew and Gentile, along with miraculous signs and wonders, will be manifested, demonstrating the power of God and His manifold wisdom.
How I Came to Understand the Power of Covenant Restoration and the One New Man
As I started the journey of discovering the Hebraic roots of the Christian faith and the Jewish roots in my family, I noticed an unmistakable pattern.
When Jew and Gentile came together, a sovereign move of God was about to take place. We see this pattern throughout history as well as in the Bible, especially in the book of Acts:
— When Peter went to Cornelius’s house (Acts 10).
— When Paul, Barnabas and Silas went to the Gentile nations.
A beautiful picture of this One New Man unity in the Old Testament is contained in the story of Ruth.
Ruth, the Moabite, married Boaz, who was Jewish. From this family line came King David.
When Ruth made the decision not to abandon the family that she had become a part of, and to follow her mother-in-law, it created a way for prophetic fulfillment to be released from heaven.
“But Ruth said: ‘Entreat me not to leave you, or to turn back from following after you; for wherever you go, I will go; and wherever you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God, my God” (Ruth 1:16).
So then, let us come together as the One New Man and walk in covenant revelation this year. Let us expect a move of God like nothing we have ever seen. A great harvest is on the horizon. God isn’t finished with us yet. Let us trust in the covenant-keeping God as we walk in His ways. {eoa}
