I heard the Lord say, “In the midst of chaos, global downturn and even famine, My people will have economic expansion. I am giving heavenly downloads and strategic ideas to prosper My people. They must discern the opportunities that I am presenting to them. Don’t miss this moment. Innovation and creativity will be stirred and flow through them for this hour. There will be favor upon My church, and the world will take notice. It is necessary for your ear to be tuned to the frequency of the Holy Spirit, for He will lead and guide you into the right moment to seize your God-given opportunity. Do not be afraid to step into it! Reject and bind the spirit of fear. Its grip will keep you locked out, but faith in My Word is the key that opens the doors I have prepared for you.”
I sought the Lord to further reveal what He meant about the opportunities He would be giving to His people. I searched the definition of the word “opportunity,” and it means “an appropriate or favorable time or occasion: a situation or condition favorable for attainment of a goal. A good position, chance or prospect, as for advancement or success.”
I heard the Lord tell me to turn to Genesis 26, where I read about a famine in Canaan during the time of Isaac. Because of the famine, Isaac was tempted to go to Egypt, but God stopped him and gave him specific instructions not to go to Egypt but to stay in Gerar. God had a plan to confirm His covenant and prosper him there.
“Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I swear unto Abraham thy father; And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed” (Gen. 26:3–4, KJV).
God is giving you an opportunity to be an agent of change. While some current circumstances look dire, and it seems as if famine has taken hold in many areas of this land, our provision does not come through man’s economy. We live according to God’s kingdom’s economy. He will cause your seed to multiply just as He did for Isaac, and you will prosper in the time of famine.
“Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him” (Gen. 26:12).
Notice that Isaac sowed in the land of famine. His obedience caused a supernatural acceleration to hit his seed, and he received a hundredfold return in the same year. Many believe that God gave Isaac an idea for an irrigation system that would bring water from wells to water his crops and cause them to grow and multiply. I heard the Spirit of the Lord say, “I will give creative concepts and witty inventions that will cause My people to prosper.”
“I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions” (Prov. 8:12).
It wasn’t Isaac’s skill but his obedience that caused the blessing of the Lord. He acted on God’s Word and seized the moment! He laid claim to his OPPORTUNITY! And the world took notice of God’s blessing upon him, “and the Philistines envied him” (Gen. 26:14). As God did for Isaac, God is preparing to do the same for you.
Current events have caused many to fall into the trap of worry and fear. There are real concerns regarding the stock market, inflation and food shortages, but you watch and see how God will turn the economic crisis on the enemy. God’s people will be presented with new opportunities that will release increase in their lives. These opportunities, though, are going to require discernment. You must discern between what is just good and what is God. Isaac could have gone to Egypt, where there was provision, but God told him no.
I heard the Lord say, “Be careful to what voice and reports you listen to in this hour. Spend time seeking after Me and listening for My voice. This will tune your ears to hear, and you will find Me.” God’s promise to you is “you shall seek Me and find Me” (Jer. 29:13).
After David became king over Israel, the Philistines gathered against David (2 Sam. 5:17–18). King David did not rush to war against them by his own wisdom, for David had the secret weapon of prayer and enquiring of the Lord for His direction.
“And David enquired of the Lord, saying, ‘Shall I go up to the Philistines?’… And the Lord said unto David, ‘Go up’” (2 Sam. 5:19).
David defeated the Philistines that day and said, “The Lord has broken forth upon my enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore, he called the name of that place Baal Perazim,” (2 Sam. 5:20). I declare to you that you are coming into your place of breakthrough! Be ready to get new strategies. What worked before will not work now. Remarkably, the Philistines regrouped and came up AGAIN, and once again, David enquired of the Lord. This time God instructed him not to go up, but to go behind them and wait for the sound.
“When thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the Lord go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines,” (2 Sam. 5:24).
What worked before with the Philistines was not God’s plan for this battle. You must keep seeking the Lord, and you can expect His voice to lead you into victory. In this season of opportunity, refuse to stare at the uncertainty. Instead, allow the Lord to show you your vast opportunities.
