Messianic rabbi and bestselling author Jonathan Cahn is issuing a strong warning to believers about the spiritual danger of slander, conspiracy and accusations spreading online by Candace Owens.

In a recent message, Cahn directly addressed the controversy surrounding commentator Candace Owens, framing his critique through a striking analogy meant to illustrate the seriousness of what he believes is happening in the public conversation.

Cahn began with a thought experiment, asking viewers to imagine a person who constantly promotes conspiracies and accusations without evidence.

“Imagine you have somebody saying to you, ‘It’s all a conspiracy.’ Every week, a new conspiracy every week,” Cahn said.

He explained that if such behavior were taking place inside a psychiatric institution, people would immediately dismiss the claims.

“You would say that this person most likely should be committed,” he said. “You would say the person should be in a mental ward.”

However, Cahn argued that when similar claims are spread through social media or video platforms, the presence of a microphone or camera does not change the nature of what is being said.

“The fact that there’s a camera or a cell phone in their room… doesn’t make it any less the ravings of somebody who is a lunatic,” he said.

Cahn also connected patterns of continual accusation to the Bible’s description of the enemy. He noted that the word devil comes from the Greek word diabolos, meaning accuser or slanderer.

“The nature of the enemy, the devil… means one who accuses, who casts slander accusations,” Cahn said.

When accusations are repeated against individuals, ministries or entire people groups, he warned, believers must recognize the spiritual implications.

“If you notice that the person… continually focuses on accusation, slander against everybody… you may not just be dealing with mental illness,” he said. “You may be dealing with demonic activity.”

Cahn specifically pointed to accusations surrounding Erika Kirk, saying that targeting a widow and her family is especially serious in the eyes of God.

“She attacks Erika Kirk, a widow of the fatherless children,” Cahn said. “How low can you get when you’re attacking a widow who just lost her husband?”

He continued by warning that Scripture makes clear that God defends those who are vulnerable.

“To war against Christian ministries is the realm of being cursed. To slander and bear false witness is to be cursed. To attack a widow, which in effect is attacking attacking her fatherless children, is to be cursed,” Cahn said.

For that reason, he urged believers not to participate in gossip, speculation or slander—even out of curiosity.

“If you listen to gossip, you’re part of gossip,” Cahn warned. “Why would you want to waste the precious time that God’s given you… with what is the equivalent of the babblings of a paranoid mental case?”

Instead, Cahn encouraged Christians to guard their minds with the biblical standard found in Philippians 4:8.

“The Bible says, ‘Whatever’s true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable… let your mind dwell on those things,’” he said.

Cahn concluded by urging believers to respond spiritually rather than reactively.

“We should pray for her,” he said. “Pray against the spirit that is moving them. Pray for them to be delivered.”

Ultimately, Cahn urges believers to follow godly principles and to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves.

“But you flee these things, you child of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness,” he said. “Fight the good fight of faith.”
