There’s no question about it: the last days are drawing closer each and every day.
In his compelling sermon, “The Lamb of Seven Eyes and Seven Horns,” Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn examines the profound symbolism of Revelation 5, presenting a vivid portrayal of Jesus as both
He began by emphasizing the centrality of the cross in God’s redemptive plan: “It’s the cross that leads to the resurrection. It’s the cross that enables the kingdom to come.” He explained that without the sacrificial death of Jesus, there would be no reconciliation with God and, consequently, no kingdom.
He then transitions to the vision of a scroll sealed with seven seals, which no one in heaven or on earth is found worthy to open. This moment of despair is interrupted by the announcement of hope: “Behold, the Lion from the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has overcome to be able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” Cahn identifies this Lion as Jesus, who has triumphed over death and judgment.
However, the vision takes an unexpected turn when John sees not a lion, but a lamb: “I saw… a lamb as if wounded, maimed, killed violently. Butchered.” This lamb, though appearing slain, stands alive, symbolizing Jesus’ resurrection and victory over death. Cahn notes the significance of the lamb imagery, stating that while the term “lamb” appears only four times outside Revelation, it is used 27 times within this book.
This led Cahn to break things down even further, pointing to Jesus as both the Lion and the Lamb. He also examines Revelation’s account of the lamb’s seven horns and seven eyes. He interprets the horns as representing complete power and the eyes as symbolizing complete knowledge, aligning with the attributes of omnipotence and omniscience. These features signify that Jesus, the lamb, possesses all authority and insight.
As the world grows darker and prophetic questions intensify, this message serves as a powerful reminder that Scripture has already revealed the ultimate victory and the One who holds the future. You can watch Jonathan Cahn’s powerful sermon above.
