In a time when global peace seems to be a big discussion point among world leaders, Pastor Jack Hibbs is urging believers to discern what kind of peace is really on the horizon. In a recent message, the California pastor and founder of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills drew powerful parallels between current developments in the Middle East and the ancient prophecies of Scripture, warning that a false sense of security could precede one of the most turbulent times in human history.

As international efforts increase to negotiate peace deals between Israel and its neighbors, Hibbs believes these developments may not signify true peace—but rather the prelude to prophetic fulfillment. Citing passages from Daniel and Revelation, Hibbs explained that the coming world leader, the Antichrist, will “confirm a covenant” with Israel for seven years—a deal that initially brings stability but soon unravels in chaos.
“We all want peace, but the Bible tells us in advance they’re going to have a lot of treaties about peace, but none of them are going to stick. In fact, let’s be honest, even the Antichrist is going to write up a seven-year treaty, and it doesn’t stick,” says Hibbs.
He pointed to the growing calls for peace as only a temporary peace because the Prince of Peace alone is the one who will bring true change when Christ comes back.

“God’s got his plan and he’s going to take care of it. He’s going to execute his plan and only then and then when Christ returns will there be peace. Until then, no peace treaty is going to work,” says Hibbs.
He also discussed how the ultimate issue which he believes will divide churches next is that of support for Israel. “Now the global topic is Israel,” he says. “I don’t think there’s another topic after this one. I think this is it…what on God’s calendar would be more important in Bible prophecy warning us and telling us that you’ll know the times and the seasons when Israel is that topic.”

In these turbulent times, Hibbs reminds the Church that hope is not found in treaties or negotiations but in unwavering faith that God’s prophetic purposes will prevail—and that His ultimate peace will one day cover the earth in a way no human effort ever could. Christ is coming again soon, and we must be on guard.
