President Trump revealed the technology used to disable Venezuelan military equipment during the operation leading to the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
Speaking to the New York Post, Trump called the weapon the “Discombobulator,” noting he is “not allowed to talk about it,” although he would “love to.”
“They never got their rockets off. They had Russian and Chinese rockets, and they never got one off,” the president added. “We came in, they pressed buttons and nothing worked. They were all set for us.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared an eyewitness account of the operation on X. According to the post, the witness claimed to be a security guard who described the radar systems shutting down without explanation.
“At one point, they launched something—I don’t know how to describe it… it was like a very intense sound wave,” the witness claimed. “Suddenly I felt like my head was exploding from the inside. We all started bleeding from the nose. Some were vomiting blood. We fell to the ground, unable to move. We couldn’t even stand up after that sonic weapon — or whatever it was.”
President Trump announced the arrest of Maduro on Jan. 3, writing on Truth Social, “The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country. This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement. Details to follow. There will be a News Conference today at 11 A.M., at Mar-a-Lago. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
A resolution celebrating the successful operation has since been introduced.
