“They were politically motivated to go after people who are enforcing our border, and I think that is the most disgusting thing,” said Vance. “The very people who keep us safe ought to be honored and protected and praised by Democrats and Republicans alike. It is time to stop the rhetorical assault on law enforcement.”
FBI Director Kash Patel also stated on X that, “an initial review of the evidence shows an ideological motive behind this attack,” sharing the photo of the bullets found by Jahn’s body.
NBC spoke to Jahn’s older brother, Noah Jahn, who called his brother “unique.” He also was unaware of his brother’s political motivations and thought he “…didn’t have strong feelings about ICE as far as I knew.”
Noah Jahn told NBC he saw his brother at their parent’s home just two weeks ago and didn’t notice anything unusual. He made note that his parents owned a rifle, and his brother was familiar on how to use it. He then stated, “he’s not a marksman, that’s for sure…He would not be able to make any shots like that.”
Joshua Jahn has also been identified as an independent voter who had a previous charge in Texas for delivering marijuana in the quantity size between a fourth of an ounce and five pounds.
