Police Chief Who Released Duggar Molestation Report Should Be Fired, Senator Charges

Arkansas Sen. Bart Hester

Despite In Touch’s legal apprehending of the Josh Duggar molestation police report, one Arkansas senator is calling for the firing of the police chief who released it.

“The law to protect minors’ identities is not a suggestion,” Sen. Bart Hester tells News Channel 5. “So sad to see the person charged with protecting the community being so reckless and irresponsible. I believe it is unavoidable that the Springdale police chief should be terminated. She has re-victimized these young ladies.”

In Touch obtained the police report through a Freedom of Information Act request. FOIA requests allow citizens to access federal government information, such as police reports.

Hester, however, says the city of Springdale’s liability on releasing the information is “endless,” and he anticipates charges against Springdale Police Chief Kathy O’Kelley.

Though unconnected to Hester’s calls, Kelley does have plans to retire at the end of June. She made the announcement in early May.
