New York City’s mayor, Zohran Mamdani, has snubbed Christians in the most unprecedented way possible.
According to the New York Post, Mamdani skipped the installation of Ronald Hicks as the new archbishop of the New York Archdiocese. This is the first time in at least a 100 years that the mayor of New York has missed out on this event.
As National Today noted, Mamdani taking a backseat from this event “…was seen by some as a snub to the over 2.5 million Catholics in the New York Archdiocese…”

This decision to miss out on such an event that is important to Catholics all across New York City comes as Mamdani encouraged Americans to look toward Islam and the prophet Muhammad regarding immigration, and as antisemitic sentiments continue to grow in New York.
Moments like this point to a broader concern that the nation’s Christian and Jewish foundations are being pushed to the margins of public life. What was once a nation openly shaped by Christian and Jewish values is increasingly being pressured to sideline that heritage in the name of cultural accommodation. It’s clear that this is not happening randomly, but as part of a broader spiritual and cultural shift that is elevating other worldviews while treating Judeo-Christian influence as something to be minimized.
As these tensions grow, many this moment serves as a call to prayer, and a renewed commitment to standing for biblical truth in a rapidly shifting cultural landscape.
