Shi’ite Muslims flagellate themselves during a ceremony to mark the religious ritual of Arbain, in the northern Indian city of Lucknow Sunday. Shi’ite Muslims commemorate Arbain, to mark the end of a 40-day period of mourning for the Imam Hussein, Prophet Muhammad’s grandson, who died in A.D. 680.
