Murderer Finally Convicted After Attacking Creflo Dollar’s Church

Floyd Palmer, left, was convicted of murdering Greg McDowell, right.

A jury convicted a former World Changers employee after he opened fire on Creflo Dollar’s church and killed a worship leader.

The jury pronounced Floyd Palmer guilty but mentally insane, according to 11Alive.

They handed down the conviction four years after the shooting. In 2012, Palmer reportedly walked into the Atlanta-area church and opened fire. He killed victim Greg McDowell with multiple shots and then “calmly” walked out, Charisma News previously reported.

“It’s very upsetting when your own member would come and do such a thing,” church member Marcia Lowe told USA Today at the time.

During the trial, one witness said he saw Palmer shoot the worship leader at least 12 times while McDowell prayed.

“And I was saying, ‘Why you still shooting?’ I said, ‘because he’s already down,”’ witness Mary Lou Harris said. “He was constantly shooting at that time. I mean, I wasn’t counting. I was running for cover.”

Before the World Changer’s shooting, police leveled attempted murder, assault and handgun charges against Palmer when he attacked a Baltimore mosque in 2001.

Palmer then underwent 18 months of mental health treatment in a psychiatric hospital.

In the World Changers shooting, Palmer was sentenced to life without parole.
