Millions of people just went through a preparation for an apocalyptic event.
On Sunday afternoon, 87 million phones in the U.K. were set to receive an “Armageddon alarm” test in case of emergency. As the BBC noted, this event was meant to ensure safety of citizens in the case of a true emergency.

The BBC reported that The United Kingdom’s Prime Minister sir Keir Starmer said that “This is an important step in keeping people safe during national emergencies.” Some recipients of the alarm noted that they received this alert in isolated locations and even while flying. Some, however, felt confusion from the sheer loudness of the alarm affecting hearing aids or disturbing quiet places like libraries.

However, the system did not work exactly as planned. As Metro reported, thousands who were expecting to receive the alarm did not have their phones go buzzing off.
A teacher, Katie Lathan, told Metro that she did not receive the alarm on her phone, stating, “Well I guess I’m out. No one thinks to tell me anything any more.”
Another person, tech expert Austin Wellbelove said that he “…received the message on my phone but there was no sound or vibration. My iPhone was set to silent, which was not overridden. I really hope these are very isolated incidents…”
While the alarm was only a test, its glitches and disruptions have left many uneasy. If confusion and frustration erupted during a simulated drill, what might happen if a genuine national emergency were to strike? The system meant to bring assurance instead sparked questions about its reliability, leaving some worried about what may unfold when lives are truly on the line.

Beyond technical failures, this begs the question why such large-scale preparations are suddenly necessary in the first place. Why is there such an urgency to ready entire nations for apocalyptic scenarios?
For those with eyes to see, this may point to something deeper than government readiness—it may reflect what Scripture has already warned about. Perhaps the signs of the end times are more prevalent than we realize, quietly unfolding in the events of our day. The question now lingers: are we truly prepared for what may come next?
