A man was arrested after planting 200 explosives in a tent outside of a Washington D.C. Catholic Church.
According to the New York Post, the suspect, 41-year-old Louis Geri had at minimum 200 different explosives and a tent outside that he “had pitched… on the steps of the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle,” where he then said, ““You might want to stay back and call the federals, I have explosives.”

Geri then reportedly gave to officers a notebook that was full of descriptive hatefulness toward Supreme Court justices, Jewish people, ICE and the Catholic Church.
This arrest came as the church was preparing for the annual Red Mass, which is meant to honor the start of the Supreme Court’s term. As the Catholic News Agency reported, the purpose of this mass is to “invoke God’s blessings on those responsible for the administration of justice as well as on all public officials.” The outlet also noted that Geri was banned from the cathedral.

In a world where hatred and violence continue to target both God’s house and those who serve in positions of justice, this arrest is a reminder of the importance of prayer and protection. As believers, we are called to stand for righteousness, pray for those in authority, and intercede for the safety of our communities and churches. Let us not be overcome by fear, but trust in God’s sovereign hand to shield the innocent, bring justice, and turn hearts away from darkness.
