Hamas announced Friday it is prepared to release all hostages as part of a deal tied to a U.S. proposal but cautioned that the process would likely take longer than 72 hours, according to The Jerusalem Post.

In a statement, the terror group said it would release all hostages, both living and dead, “according to the exchange formula outlined in President Trump’s proposal, provided that field conditions necessary for the exchange are secured.”

Hamas leader Musa Abu Marzouk told Al Jazeera the 72-hour timeline in the U.S. plan was “unrealistic under the current circumstances.” He added it would take longer to release surviving captives as well as the bodies of those killed.

The group confirmed it had given mediators its response to President Donald Trump’s plan for ending the Gaza war. Hamas also said it would support transferring power in Gaza to a new Palestinian governing body elected “based on Palestinian national consensus and with Arab and Islamic support.”
Regarding the wider terms of Trump’s proposal, Hamas said issues relating to the future of Gaza and Palestinian rights must be addressed within “a unified Palestinian national framework in which Hamas will participate and contribute responsibly.”

The announcement came hours after Trump issued an ultimatum, warning Hamas it had until Sunday to accept the deal or face “all HELL like no one has ever seen before.”
