A previous worship pastor and contestant on American Idol, Caleb Flynn, has been arrested for the murder of his wife, according to ChurchLeaders.

As the report noted, Flynn, 39, served as a worship arts pastor and director from 2010 to 2021 at two different churches. He has been charged with the murder of his wife, Ashley, 37. He faces charges of two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of tampering with evidence.

Fox News also noted that Flynn “allegedly staged the crime scene in order to throw off detectives…” Flynn is currently at the Miami County Jail in Ohio, and pleaded not guilty. His bond is set at $2 million, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. on Feb. 26.

Previously, Flynn said that someone had broken into the house and murdered Ashley.

“…somebody broke into my home, somebody broke into my home and shot my wife,” he stated according to Fox. “”My wife, she’s got two shots to her head, there’s blood everywhere…”

Back in 2013, Flynn said on America Idol that he “…absolutely love[s] the Lord. I love my wife more than anything…”

In a social media post, Flynn’s church, Christian Life Center, released a statement regarding the loss of Ashley, writing:

Our hearts remain heavy as we continue to grieve the tragic loss of Ashley Flynn.

Ashley was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished member of Christian Life Center. Her life touched many, and her absence is deeply felt throughout our church family.

As the events surrounding this tragedy continue to unfold, we join you in the shock, sadness, and unanswered questions many are experiencing. In moments like these, we are reminded of our calling as the body of Christ: mourn together, to care for one another, and to draw near to God, who is our source of comfort and peace.

We encourage our church family to remain anchored in prayer and wisdom. Let us guard our hearts, extend grace to one another, and resist the pull toward speculation or gossip.

Two young daughters have lost their mother, and a family continues to walk through profound grief. Please continue lifting them in prayer.

May the God of all comfort surround each of us with His peace.

“Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.” – Romans 12:15

In Christ,

Pastor Jordan

During this time, pray for the Flynn children who have lost their mother, and for the other grieving friends and family as they navigate life without Ashley.
