By now, most Americans have seen or heard about the half-mile-long rainbow mural unveiled in Washington, D.C., in honor of “World Pride.”

It’s being called “Rainbow Road,” and the city claims it’s about joy, spirit, safety and “visibility.” But what’s most visible to many taxpayers is the blatant lack of transparency, especially when their dollars are on the line.

As reported by The Gateway Pundit, “Neither the Capital Pride Alliance, DDOT, nor related sources… state the mural’s cost to taxpayers.”

Why not?

It’s very telling that no one is eager to explain just how much public money was used on this massive mural—10,000 square feet of rainbow-colored messaging—especially when similar murals in other cities have cost as much as $100,000. That figure doesn’t even begin to account for labor, equipment or future maintenance.

The now-removed Black Lives Matter mural in D.C. cost $271,231 to repaint just last year. How much more are residents expected to swallow in silence?

The mural was led by Lisa Marie Thalhammer, who told WUSA9, “It gives this neighborhood so much spirit and joy… It’s an awesome project. It’s one of the longest queer murals in the history of murals.” That may be a matter of pride for some, but for many D.C. residents, it’s a slap in the face, especially those who believe that God’s design for identity, family and society is being mocked at their expense.

This isn’t about art. It’s about agenda. These murals and events, cloaked in words like “inclusion” and “visibility,” are part of a well-funded, coordinated effort to normalize and elevate an ideology that many Americans, especially people of faith, fundamentally reject. And they’re being forced to fund it.

“Safety is a very important element to this project,” Thalhammer added. “It brings visibility and also helps protect riders in the bike lane.”

Let’s be honest: If safety were the true concern, painting bright yellow or reflective white would’ve done the job for a fraction of the cost. This has never been about bike lanes, it’s about using city streets as canvases for cultural rebellion.

As more Americans wake up and begin turning back to the ways of God, we can expect resistance. There will always be those who push back, not with honest debate, but with public displays of defiance. The Bible tells us plainly: “The carnal mind is enmity against God” (Rom. 8:7).

The fight we’re seeing is not merely political or cultural, it’s spiritual.

Events like this are more than colorful murals, they are symbols of a society in open rebellion of God and His design. And when the state uses the people’s money to fund that rebellion while refusing to account for it, we must ask: Who are they really serving?

It’s time for accountability. It’s time for clarity. And more than anything, it’s time for the people of God to take a stand, not just in church pews, but in the public square.
