Are America’s ‘Gatekeepers’ Being Honest About Islamic Terrorists Among Us?

A still image from surveillance video shows a gunman (L) approaching a Philadelphia Police vehicle in which Officer Jesse Hartnett was shot shortly before midnight January 7, 2016.

Police in Philadelphia are investigating a tip that the man who attacked a police officer is connected to a radical group.

Last week, Edward Archer approached a police car, firing at least 13 shots and wounding Officer Jesse Hartnett.

Hartnett got out of his car, chased the man and returned fire, wounding him in the buttocks before he was captured by other officers about a block away.

Officer Harnett was shot three times in the attack and was last reported in stable condition at the hospital.

The Philadelphia Police Department says it received a tip that Archer “had an affiliation to a group with radical beliefs.”

Investigators say Archer told them he was “following Allah” and pledged allegiance to ISIS. He also believes the police department defends laws that are contrary to Islam.

Archer, 30, was charged Saturday with attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault of a law enforcement officer and several firearms crimes. He is being held without bail pending a Jan. 25 preliminary hearing.
