This weekend, the Osteen family and Lakewood Church remembered the profound life of Dodie Osteen and the impact she had on the world around her for the Kingdom of God.
Bishop T.D. Jakes sent in condolences to the family, stating, “This is one of those bittersweet moments, the kinds of moments where words fail us…the church feels like we have lost a mother in Zion.”

Pastor Jentezen Franklin recounted how Dodie Osteen prayed over his daughter when she was a baby in need of a miracle. Osteen knew nothing about his daughter or her desperate need for her kidney to be supernaturally repaired. In fact, Franklin notes that they didn’t even know the Osteens when he and his wife encountered Dodie.
“She held the child up, and she prayed,” Franklin remembers. Going back to the doctor after Osteen’s prayer, Franklin recounts the supernatural happening. “And they took the x-ray, and it was as though a balloon was blown on up, and the kidney was healed.”
April Osteen Simons also remembered her mother’s legacy, stating, “I can tell you this: I could not have had a better mother…mama was one of the most amazing people I have ever met in my entire life.”

Lisa Osteen Comes also focused on her mother’s compassionate heart: “She loved Jesus with all her heart. She loved people…she never met a stranger.”
Dodie’s immense care for others was also lifted up by her son, Paul Osteen. “She had the ability to make you feel like you were the most important person on the planet, and that God only had good plans for your life.”
Speaking on the importance of having a relationship with Jesus, Lakewood’s lead pastor, Joel Osteen invited Pastor John Hagee to close out the celebration in a time of powerful prayer and recognition of Dodie’s accomplishments.
