Contrary to popular belief and Western culture, it’s impossible to be a Christian without a conversion. This doesn’t mean transferring from one religion to the next. Conversion is an entire transformation from one state of being into another. Christians have gone from death to life.
As Mike Signorelli, lead pastor of V1 Church, explains in this video, it’s more important to be a Christian than to be called one. In order to become a Christian there must be a spiritual transformation resulting from an encounter with the living Jesus. It’s impossible to create this within one’s self by following a set of rules or adapting to church culture.
Just as a caterpillar must turn into a butterfly, no person is exempt from the transformation that must occur to produce a Christian. In John 3:5-7, Jesus said, “Truly, truly I say to you, unless a man is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.'”
If you don’t have an old self, then how can there be a new one? Signorelli says, “If you’re a Christian by title, you’re about to miss what God’s doing.
Managing behavior won’t save any souls. Going to church every Sunday is not the litmus test for Christianity.
A born-again believer will be marked by increasing measures of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control that other people will see.
Pastor Mike teaches that this type of Christian will live a life of wild adventure, as shown in Acts 11. He calls the members of his church “The Wild Ones.” To hear more teaching from Pastor Mike, download the V1 Church app or check out the Mike Signorelli Facebook page. {eoa}
