Pastor Robert Madu says Jesus’ phrase in John 19:30, “It is finished,” conveys the fact that Jesus is still working through Christians today to further His kingdom on earth. Because of that, he says, believers can’t die before fulfilling God’s calling on their lives.
“You cannot breathe your last breath until you complete your assignment on the earth,” Madu says. “God has a purpose for your life, and you cannot die until you complete what He put you on the earth to do. That’s why Jesus says, ‘It is finished,’ because His assignment was finished, but He never said, ‘I am finished.’
“The fact that He never said, ‘I am finished,’ is proof that He still wants to do something in the earth today, through a body of believers.”
