Bill Johnson says God has invited us into a co-laboring role with Him and that He desires relationship and intimacy with us. But that means if you feel like God is ignoring you or not responding to your prayers, you must be doing something wrong. Johnson says the problem is never on God’s end.
In his most recent sermon at Bethel Church in Redding, California, Johnson says, “There’s this invitation by the God of the universe to come and meet with Him, and in that meeting, be changed and become a transformer. It’s in the dialogue with God. You’re not getting answers to prayer? Change what you pray. Change how you pray. Do something, because the problem isn’t on His end of the equation. If it’s not working, it’s not Him.”
Johnson says our prayer to God in those moments should be, “Here I am again. Teach me how to pray. Teach me how to dialogue with You in such a way that things change around me and You’re honored and glorified. Do something in me and through me so that when we talk, transformation takes place.” He adds, “God has invited us into a co-laboring role, one that we never could have earned for ourselves, a co-laboring role to have influence on the course of history.”
